Two Big Tourism Shops Join Forces As MMGY Acquires R&R

Two of the best-known agencies in the travel and tourism space have joined forces as MMGY Global today announced its acquisition of R&R. Financial terms weren’t disclosed, although MMGY said it is the biggest transaction in its 40-year history.

Investment funds managed by private equity firm EagleTree Capital acquired MMGY Global, led by CEO Katie Briscoe, in 2023. Las Vegas-based R&R was principally owned by Billy Vassiliadis.

Combined, the agencies have a reported $500 million in billings and a staff of 800.

R&R will retain its brand and leadership, with existing client teams and relationships remaining in place, according to the agency. Michon Martin is CEO and will join MMGY Global’s executive leadership team. With the deal the agency gains access to MMGY’s international network, resources and more.

Services provided by R&R, founded 52 years ago, include advertising, media, PR, government and  community affairs, activations and events, crisis consulting and experience design. The offering complements MMGY’s focus on travel, tourism and hospitality.

The combination builds on an existing relationship between the agencies, which already collaborate with clients including the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, Brand USA, Discover Puerto Rico and Explore St. Louis.

“We both  believe that the best work starts with understanding people, culture and context, and then using that understanding to create measurable impact,” stated Briscoe. “Bringing those strengths together gives our clients access to a much more powerful combination of intelligence and execution.”

MMGY Global's network of offices now includes R&R's Las Vegas headquarters and its offices in Washington, D.C. and Mexico City, expanding a footprint that spans North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
