Musical Digital Media Directors: Omnicom's Finnegan Jumps To Sales Side, Nardone Returns To Online Media

Madison Avenue this week lost a top digital media director, but is also regaining one. Sean Finnegan, CEO of Omnicom Media Group Digital, and the long-time digital media director at its OMD unit, has joined online advertising network Vibrant Media as chief media officer. John Nardone, one of Madison Avenue's seminal digital media directors, meanwhile, is returning to the fold, joining "predictive" online marketing firm [x+1] as CEO.

Nardone, who most recently was co-president and chief client offer of Aegis Group's Marketing Management Analytics (MMA), had previously been the long-time media director at Modem Media. He is also a regular contributor to Media magazine.

New York-based [x+1], which is chaired by online marketing pioneer Rich LeFurgy, touts itself as an online marketing services firm that helps "online marketers with real time, automated decision making to lift conversion rates in media and onsite."

Finnegan, meanwhile, jumps to the sales side after helming one of Madison Avenue's biggest and most influential digital media organizations. His move follows his elevation last summer to head of Omnicom's newly formed OMG Digital unit, an organization overseeing the digital media assets of all of Omnicom's media operations, representing an estimated $2 billion in digital media spending, according to RECMA estimates.

At Vibrant, Finnegan will oversee marketing, business development, and product innovation, and will work closely with Vibrant Media's 85-person sales team and manage relationships with agencies and publishers.
