More on Getting Discovered: Getting Ready for Social Media

“It’s a messier world. Increasingly, content extends beyond your own Web site.” says Darren Barefoot, a principal of Capulet Communications and co-author, with Julie Szabo, of Getting to First Base: A Social Media Marketing Playbook.

Their Tips:

>> Make sure your Web site is bloggable. While dynamic pages and Flash animations are cool, they don’t provide solid links that bloggers can insert in their posts.

>> Provide media resources in the form of photos, video and widgets that people can use.

>> Provide links to photos and videos uploaded to third-party sites like Flickr and YouTube, as well as code that can be copied directly from your site and used to embed the media elsewhere.
