• Former Mayor of New York City Rudy Giuliani accepted the Yellow Pages Integrated Media Association first-ever Business Leader of the Year award at the organization's annual convention in San Antonio on Monday. The award recognizes Giuliani's leadership of New York City after the terrorist attacks of September, as well as one of the greatest successes in business history, namely, helping make New York the best-known example of the resurgence of urban America.
  • Foote, Cone & Belding Southern California announced that Holland Henton will join the agency as senior vice president, executive creative director. In this capacity, Henton will oversee creative direction for all agency clients, including TaylorMade- adidas, Hilton Hotels, Kawasaki Motors Corp., Taco Bell Corporation, Western Digital, Sunkist, Hong Kong Tourism Board and others.
  • SF Interactive, the San Francisco-based interactive marketing services firm, has appointed its CFO, Gregory L. Richey to the added post of Chief Operating Officer. As part of a broad restructuring of the business, Richey has also been named to the SFI Board of Directors. Richey was hired as Chief Financial Officer at SF Interactive in March of 2000. Prior to joining SFI, Greg had been COO at Paycom Billing Services, and prior to that was CFO of The Recovery Network.
  • The American Advertising Federation inducted four members into its Advertising Hall of Fame yesterday at a ceremony in New York's Waldorf-Astoria. The new inductees were Katharine Graham, former chairman-CEO of The Washington Post Co.; Charles D. Peebler Jr., chairman emeritus of True North Communications; Hal Riney, chairman-CEO of Publicis & Hal Riney; and John Smale, retired chairman-CEO of Procter & Gamble Co. and former chairman of General Motors Corp.
  • The search for a national broadcast director at Havas Advertising's media services division MPG is over. The shop named Bob Riordan senior VP and managing director of national broadcast. He replaces Ray Dundas, who left the agency a year ago to work at Omnicom Group's OMD.
  • Cordiant Communications Group has named David Hearn chairman-CEO of Bates Worldwide. Hearn, who most recently served as CEO of Australian food brand manufacturer Goodman Fielder Ltd., will be based in New York, where Bates Worldwide is headquartered.
  • Media agency veteran MIKE DREXLER will join Optimedia USA on April 1 as Chief Executive Officer. Drexler, currently Executive Vice President of the New York office of Mediasmith Inc., replaces GENE DEWITT, who will leave Optimedia at the end of March.
  • JOHN C. BOHAN has resigned from his positions of President and Chief Executive Officer of L90, and is no longer a member of its board of directors. In addition, the company has removed THOMAS A. SEBASTIAN from his position as Chief Financial Officer and has placed him on administrative leave. L90 has named MITCHELL CANNOLD as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, and he will also serve on the company's board of directors.   • JEANNIEY MULLEN joins MindArrow as Vice President of Strategic Marketing and National Accounts. Prior to coming to MindArrow Mullen was the Vice President and General Manager for the global commercial email division at Grey Direct. Also at MindArrow, CHRIS PLUNKETT joins as Vice President of Business Development and General Manager of the Northeast Region. He had been Vice President of Business Development at Bigfoot Interactive.
  • CHRIS STREULI has been named advertising sales manager for USA TODAY. Prior to joining USA TODAY, Streuli was senior account executive at Adeszko Media Sales where he represented several publications including Maximum Golf, Talk, and Worth.
