• Conservative Leaders Meet In Washington To Push Defeat Trump Campaign
Conservative leaders met in Washington D.C. Thursday, at the Army and Navy Club, to discuss how to stop Donald Trump from becoming the GOP nominee. They are calling for what they termed a “unity ticket.” The group included founder of RedState.com, Erick Erickson, and Bill Wichterman, former Bush 43 advisor. Around 24 people attended, with conservative columnist Quin Hillyer emerging as the spokesperson for the attendees.
  • Trump Warns Of Riots At Brokered Convention
Establishment hopes of stopping Donald Trump from winning the GOP nomination rest in a brokered convention when the GOP descends on Cleveland, Ohio, in July. Trump will almost certainly have a plurality of the delegates, but if he doesn’t reach the threshold for winning, things could get messy. If the GOP were to try to block Trump with dealings on the convention floor, Trump cautioned: “I think you’d have riots. I think you’d have riots.”
  • PredictWise: 94% Chance Of Next President Being From New York
Now that Florida Senator Marco Rubio is out of the presidential race, odds that our next president is from New York has increased dramatically. There is now a 94% of that happening, as both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump hail from that state. As far as PredictWise can tell, Hillary has the odds on her side, with Democrats holding a 70% chance of retaining the White House in November.
  • After Dropouts, Fox Cancels Next Week's GOP Debate
After Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Donald Trump dropped out of next week’s Fox debate, the network decided to cancel the entire event, planned to take place in Salt Lake City. Fox News EVP, Michael Clemente, said: “Obviously, there needs to be more than one participant.” Texas Sen. Ted Cruz poked at Trump, “Donald apparently is ducking; he’s afraid of being challenged.”
  • Hillary Clinton's Successful Tuesday Night
Hillary Clinton notched at least four of five wins last night: North Carolina, Illinois, Ohio and Florida. In Missouri she leads Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders by 0.2%. She also took the lion’s share of delegates, picking up around 300 more than Sanders. She spoke triumphantly last night, assuring her supporters: “We are getting closer to securing the Democratic Party nomination.”
  • Merrick Garland Nominated To Fill Justice Scalia's Seat On U.S. Supreme Court
President Barack Obama announced this morning what will mostly likely be his last U.S. Supreme Court nominee. Merrick Garland, who currently serves as the chief justice of the U.S. Appeals Court for the DC Circuit, is the executive’s choice. Garland was approved in 1997 by the Senate, 76-23, including support from 30 Republicans. The next step is to convince the Senate to begin confirmation proceedings, which so far seems unlikely.
  • Trump Will Skip Next Fox News GOP Debate
In another show of complete disdain for the media, Donald Trump announced that he will not attend next week’s Fox News debate. The GOP front-runner told "Fox and Friends" over the phone: “I think we’ve had enough debates. How many times can the same people ask you the same question?” Surprisingly, Trump claims that no one told him about the debate, adding that he had commitments to speak to a “very important group of people.”
  • 3 Companies Are Dominating Political Digital Ad Budgets
Twitter, Facebook and Google are dominating political digital ad budgets in the 2016 cycle. While a number of smaller independent technology companies have been investing in DC offices and staff, it will be difficult to significantly break into the space this cycle. As AdExchanger was told, “There are a lot of leases being taken out (by commercial ad tech companies), but I’d be concerned. Some of those offices are going to end up with tumbleweed blowing around.”
  • Study Shows 'The Hill' As Top Non-TV Political Influencer
A recent study by the Laboratory of Social Machines at MIT’s Media Lab ranked the top political influencers among media organizations. The top non-TV group was The Hill, which came third behind Fox and CNN news networks. The results come amid huge growth for the political Web site, having grown 178% over the past year, per ComScore.
  • Clinton Caught On Mic Speculating About Christie's Endorsement
Unknowingly speaking with her mic on, Hillary Clinton discussed politics with Chris Matthews during a commercial break while taping an MSNBC town hall Monday evening. They discussed Trump and Christie, “You guys can’t stop covering him. He is a dangerous presence.” Then the former Secretary of State asked nonchalantly about Christie’s motivations: “Why did he support him? Did he have a debt?”
