• Democratic Candidates Attend Town Hall In Columbus, Ohio
    The two remaining Democratic candidates held a town hall in Columbus, Ohio, last night. The night focused less on the differences between the two candidates. Instead, both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders attacked GOP front-runner Donald Trump, accusing him of creating an atmosphere of violence on the campaign trail.
  • CBS News Reporter Arrested While Covering Trump Rally
    Sopan Deb, reporter for CBS News, was arrested Friday night in Chicago amid the violent protests at a Trump rally. Deb was filming a man with a bloodied face on the ground when he was suddenly “grabbed from behind and thrown to the ground.” An officer then placed a boot on Deb’s neck to keep him in place. Deb was charged with resisting arrest, even though his own footage and that from another camera crew point to a different reality.
  • GOP Candidates Have Debated For Nearly A Full 24 Hours
    NPR and The Washington Examiner tallied the amount of time GOP candidates have spoken at debates, including the undercard iterations. The number gets close to a whopping 24 hours. A CNN debate last September claims the most speaking time of any debate. Donald Trump has consistently been among those with the most speaking time throughout the debate calendar.
  • Dr. Ben Carson Endorses Trump
    Former high-flier in GOP primary polls, Dr. Ben Carson, has endorsed front-runner Donald Trump. Carson pointed to two sides of the real-estate mogul’s persona, the combative and the “cerebral” one. Carson, who considered the most tranquil of the candidates, will act as a counterbalance to the aggressiveness of Trump and another of his recent endorsers, Gov. Chris Christie.
  • GOP Debate, Trump Take It Down A Notch
    The GOP debate in Miami, Florida, last night, was among the most tame so far this cycle. Trump was not the bombastic self he has been in the past. He ooked as if he was “running out the clock” in the last big face-off before the March 15 primaries. The civil tone extended to Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz' both could have been more forceful on the urgency of stopping Trump.
  • FIrst U.S .Fact Checking In Spanish Launched By Univision
    At Wednesday night’s Democratic debate, Univision launched the first fact-checking project in Spanish. While analysts on the project were not able to fact-check the candidates live on air this time around, the hope is that they will do so going forward. The fact checker is named Detector de Mentiras, or Lie Detector.
  • Chelsea, Ivanka Friendship Hits Pause
    For a few years now, Chelsea Clinton and Ivanka Trump have developed a friendly relationship, being very affectionate to each other at past events, such as the Glamour Women of the Year Awards. With their parents on track for a general election match up, the friendship has been put on ice. People close to the two have said they will not appear in public during this election cycle.
  • Voter ID Laws Study: Minority, Liberal Turnout Suppressed
    The results of a UC San Diego study on the impact of voter ID laws show they adversely affect minority, particularly Latino, turnout. Democratic turnout was also disproportionately affected. These outcomes bolster arguments that say voter ID laws are politically motivated, especially when it is clear that such laws have been mostly put forward by GOP lawmakers.
  • Latinos Increasingly Seek Citizenship Amid Trump Rise
    Amid the rhetoric coming out of the GOP race, Hispanic voters are increasingly seeking citizenship to have their say in November. Legal immigrant Hortensia Villegas, who came from Mexico, explained, “I want to vote so Donald Trump won’t win.” According to federal numbers, naturalization applications were up 11% in 2015 and jumped another 14% in the last six months of that year.
  • Fraud Concerns Mount Around Targeting Hispanics Online
    Hispanic voters are heavy users of mobile devices and digital marketing will be integral to reaching them this cycle. When run on programmatic exchanges, Hispanic targeting is twice as likely to be vulnerable to fraud. Campaigns also have to worry about other digital buy types, as Hispanic targeting is also susceptible to higher bot percentages.
