Goya Donates Food, Toys For Holidays

  • December 30, 2009
In collaboration with the New York Mets, Goya Foods has donated 5,000 pounds of food products to City Harvest, a charity that distributes food to pantries throughout New York City.

Goya donations also enabled distribution of 3,000 toys to children in New York and New Jersey through a partnership with the Manhattan-based service organization Hispanic Federation.

The company's holiday-timed sponsorships included Dec. 16's "Posadas y Pastorelas" at the Museum of the City of New York, an annual singing holiday procession and performance organized by Mano a Mano, an organization promoting Mexican culture and traditions among immigrants, artists, educators and the general public.

Goya was also a title sponsor for the Virgen de la Guadalupe international run organized by Asociacion Tepeyac, a network of 40 community-based organizations committed to promoting the social welfare and human rights of Latino immigrants. The marathon run began at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City in early October and ended at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York on Dec. 12.--Karlene Lukovitz
