Siegel To Sales Chief For Fox Sports Nets

Todd Siegel

Todd Siegel, the longtime head of sales at Fox's dedicated motor sports network, will take over the top sales post for a collection of channels, two of which are in 80 million homes.

Siegel, who has been senior vice president of sales at Speed network since 2004, becomes an executive vice president at Fox Cable Sales, where he will oversee sales for Speed, Fox Soccer Channel and Fuel. He will also handle national sales for the Fox Sports Net regional sports networks.

David Safran effectively takes over Siegel's previous post at Speed.

Speed and FSC are in 80 million homes each -- while Fuel, which focuses on so-called extreme sports, such as snowboarding, is in 32 million. There are 19 Fox Sports Net outlets around the country.

Siegel's position is not new per se, but emerged as Fox Sports reorganized to sync sports operations for the Fox broadcast network with cable channels, forming the Fox Sports Media Group.

Siegel will report to Lou LaTorre, president of Fox Cable Sales, who stated Siegel has worked to offer marketers "multiplatform" opportunities "that can be seamlessly executed."

Among those are partnerships with NASCAR. Fox also said he's worked with marketing firms such as Octagon and Millsport on various initiatives.

Speed is slated to launch a Speed2 broadband channel with a "TV Everywhere-type" authentication model. People must prove they pay for Speed channel at home to be able to access it.

Before joining Speed six years ago, Siegel was executive vice president at Screenvision, where he oversaw sales for the in-cinema advertising company. He also spent six years at MTV Networks as a vice president.
