American Airlines, NBCU Partner On Promo

American Airlines is joining with NBC Universal on a promotion that includes a sweepstakes with prizes such as tickets to a "Saturday Night Live" taping.

The Fort Worth, Texas-based airline is kicking off the All Access sweepstakes, a series of promotions that highlight New York City and the TV programming available onboard. NBC Universal is American's in-flight entertainment provider.

Customers will be able to see videos about the promotion in-flight. They have also been sent links to the AA.com/NBC entertainment page www.aa.com/nbc, which includes detailed information about the promotion. There will also be an advertisement about the sweepstakes in American's in-flight publication American Way.

"American is proud to be partnering with NBC Universal on these series of promotions," Billy Sanez, American's director of social media and customer communications, tells Marketing Daily. "We are excited to be able to offer our customers opportunities to win fabulous prizes, while at the same time being able to showcase the terrific entertainment choices onboard American Airlines flights."

American is giving away tickets to a taping of the classic late-night show at the NBC Studios in Rockefeller Center. Consumers can enter by logging onto www.aa.com/nbc and taking the New York/American Airlines quiz.

This is the first phase of the All Access promotions, and several monthly giveaways from NBC Universal will highlight the company's biggest New York-based shows and events.

The first wave of the promotion will run through Aug. 31, and will include other prizes and experiences. The grand prize will include two tickets to a "Saturday Night Live" show, coach travel to New York from any destination served by American in the 48-contiguous United States, two-night hotel accommodations, a $250 gift card to the NBC Store at 30 Rock, and a $250 cash gift card.

As a second-place prize, American and NBC Universal will give away two general admission passes to Universal Studios in Hollywood, two Front Line Passes, airfare for two to Los Angeles from any destination served by American in the 48-contiguous United States, and a $100 cash gift card.

The third-place winner will get a package of popular products from NBC's hit series "The Biggest Loser," including top-selling workout DVDs, plus books from the show's book series autographed by trainer Bob Harper.
