Ziff Davis Names Horowitz COO

Ziff Davis, a technology media company, named Steven Horowitz chief operating officer. In his new post, Horowitz will handle all product, editorial, technology and audience across the company's Web and mobile properties.

Previously, Horowitz was president of OurWeddingDay.com, a division of David's Bridal, where he oversaw all aspects of OurWeddingDay.com and was responsible for developing strategic partnerships for the parent company.

"The opportunity to grow Ziff Davis' owned-and-operated digital properties is immense," he said. "These properties are trusted destinations that millions of technology customers turn to when they are looking to learn more about products they're interested in purchasing."

Vivek Shah, Ziff Davis CEO, called Horowitz's experience in leveraging content "unmatched."

Prior to OurWeddingDay.com, Horowitz was senior vice president, general manager at Bankrate Inc., where he directed product and business strategy and spearheaded the portal's transformation into a destination to research and purchase consumer financial products.

Horowitz has also held positions at AOL, Yahoo, BMG Direct and Turner Broadcasting Systems leading business and sales strategy for classified and local markets and launching new vertical channels.

Ziff Davis reaches more than 9 million in-market buyers and influencers every month. Ziff Davis sites include PCMag.com, ExtremeTech, GearLog, CrankyGeeks, Smart Device Central and TechSaver.com.

Separately, Meredith Local Media Group promoted Tom Cox to vice president of digital sales and Steve Schwaid to vice president of digital content. Both moves underscore Meredith's focus on digital and its mobile news service.
