Under Armour And NBA Fix Courts

  • June 11, 2012

Under Armour and the National Basketball Association (NBA) will tip off a five-city court refurbishment initiative, making its first stop at Madison Square Recreation Center, aka “The Dome,” in Baltimore. The court will be dedicated with the help of NBA legend and Baltimore native Muggsy Bogues. This court refurbishment program is being completed in partnership with NBA FIT, the league's comprehensive health and wellness program.

Four additional cities -- Charlotte, N.C., Philadelphia, Houston, and Newark -- will also be refurbished this summer, with NBA FIT clinics to be held at each location on the day the courts are unveiled.

“Our court refurbishment initiative with the NBA will provide young athletes with increased access to train, practice and play basketball in an environment that promotes an active and healthy lifestyle,” said Matt Mirchin, SVP, Global Brand and Sports Marketing. “Revamping each of these basketball courts is a reflection of our continuous efforts to help the next generation of young athletes reach their on-court and off-court potential.”

Under Armour and the NBA announced a multiyear partnership in 2011 to promote Under Armour’s basketball footwear in promotional campaigns, brand advertising, and at retail.
