Fox Sports Digital Acquires Fanhood

Fox Sports Digital has acquired the assets of sports media start-up Fanhood and hired its core team, including founder and CEO Brandon Ramsey.

“The Fanhood acquisition deepens our product development expertise,” said Pete Vlastelica, SVP of Fox Sports Digital. According to the terms of the deal, Fox Sports Digital gets all of Fanhood's assets, including all its intellectual property and hired employees.

In his new role as vice president of platform engineering, Fox Sports Digital, Ramsey will run personalization and social product development.

“We believe in developing applications that make following sports with your friends easier and more fun,” Ramsey said of his near-term focus.

Based out of San Francisco, Ramsey and his team will join the personnel of Yardbarker, another Fox Sports-owned brand, to create a platform technology center for Fox Sports Digital in the Bay Area.

Ramsey will report to Ben Gerst, senior vice president of platform development at Fox Sports Digital.

Gerst only joined the team in June from The New York Times, where he served as executive director of platform technologies.
