Saatchi Appointed To Establish FSA As Consumer Champion

M&C Saatchi and Saatchi Masius have been selected to help the new financial services regulator, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), establish itself as a trusted champion of consumer rights. The FCA took over from the FSA a year ago, but from April 1st this year takes on the new role of regulating the consumer credit market, including hire purchase, payday loans, pawnbrokers and credit card issuers. The FCA explained the Saatchi decision was made to help the organisation "reach and influence consumers when they are facing particular financial risks." Its key remit to ensure financial markets work well so consumers get a fair deal. This is a message it will no doubt be looking to Saatchi to communicate effectively against a public backlash against, in particular, the high interest rates and easy access to loans to potentially vulnerable consumers provided by payday lenders.
