true[X] Media Appoints 3 Execs To Board

true[X] media, formally known as Social Vibe, added three high-profile members to its board of directors. Taking a seat at the head table are Mich Mathews, former Microsoft CMO; James Murdoch, co-chief operating officer of 21st Century Fox; and Jonathan Miller, former AOL chairman and News Corp’s digital division.

"Advertisers need a quality solution, rather than all the crap out there," said Joe Marchese, CEO of true[X], said the three "M" board members represent "categories in an empire I want to build."

More specifically, Marchese wants to build an interactive on-demand engagement media empire. So, he developed relationships with Mathews, Murdoch, and Miller by analyzing industry problems. Things just came together.

Marchese anticipates a lot of future conversations with the three to get different perspectives on future ad products. The board members will add input on specific market areas. "I'll talk to Mich about certain ad products, for example, or talk to Jamie about how a broadcaster might react to certain ad products," he said.

Mathews, a 22-year veteran of Microsoft, most recently served as the company's CMO. She oversaw Microsoft's multi-billion-dollar marketing budget and led its consumer and business-to-business marketing to millions of customers in over 70 countries. Mathews is an active angel investor and teaches at UCLA and USC.

Murdoch works across 21st Century Fox’s global portfolio of businesses. He has direct responsibility for the company's global television business, comprising the Fox Networks Group in the United States and internationally, the company’s holdings in BSkyB, Sky Deutschland, Sky Italia and STAR India. Murdoch is a non-executive director of Yankee Global Enterprises and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Harvard Lampoon. He also serves as a board member for both 21st Century Fox and News Corp.

Miller has served as chairman and CEO of the Digital Media Group at News Corp., acting as the company's principal executive for Hulu. Miller also served as chairman and CEO of AOL from 2002 to 2006. He previously held the role of CEO and president of U.S.A. Information and Services, now split into Expedia and IACI. Miller is also on the board at the American Film Institute.
