Building
on the somewhat quiet improvement in ratings, CW will add two new shows to its schedule next year.
Along with NBC, CW was the only English-language broadcast network to see improvement in
18-49 viewers this year -- up 14% to a Nielsen 0.8 rating (1.012 million viewers), when looking at live programs from seven days of time-shifted viewing through 33 weeks of the season.
CW tallied 1.8 million overall viewers in prime time.
“This is a different CW than we were just a few years ago. Our audience is broader and more inclusive than it has ever been,
and we are growing on-air and on all digital platforms,” said Mark Pedowitz, president, The CW, in a release.
CW continues to push combined TV advertising sales of its linear TV
programs together with its digital program offerings.
New shows for the fall include “Jane the Virgin,” about a young Hispanic working woman who is accidentally artificially
inseminated. It will run at 9 p.m. on Monday after “The Originals.”
CW is getting into the superhero/DC comics game next year -- like other networks -- with a new version of
“The Flash,” airing on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
