Grammy's Selects MJD For Mobile Duties For 2015, 2016 Awards

We may not know who will be nominated or presenting awards, but The Recording Academy has awarded San Diego-based MJD responsibilities to develop mobile applications for the Annual Grammy Awards in 2015 and 2016.

The mobile assignment includes revamping the overall design, user experience and mobile development of both tablet and phone, iOS and Android mobile experiences.

The agency will be launching a new app in phases. Phase one is set to coincide with this year’s nominees on Dec. 5. The second phase will launch in time for the live presentation of the Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 8th.

MJD will also be rolling out ongoing enhancements to the app to include second-screen digital experiences.

MJD won the account after a formal review. CBS Interactive previously handled the application internally for the Grammys.

The win is attributed to the agency’s track record in developing entertainment and mobile apps, as well as to its insights into updating the Grammy app with a more modern user experience and design look in addition to other tech-related ideas that the shop presented.

MJD is an independent agency with 30 employees headquartered in San Diego, CA with offices in Los Angeles. Clients include Oakley, Disney, Red Bull, P&G, Stride Rite, Legendary Pictures, Vail Resorts, NBC, Etnies, Sycuan Casino, Sempra Energy, and Riot Games.
