Dentsu's 'Human Robot Entertainers'

Speaking of Dentsu, the agency has launched a business unit that will develop "human robot entertainers.” Its first effort is a life-sized robot modeled after the popular plus-sized Japanese cross-dressing TV star Matsuko Deluxe. Hmm. Way to come out of the gate with everything you've got all at once! Of the move, a Dentsu statement reads, “Looking at the recent entertainment industry, the use of technology has been facilitated in various fields like movies and music. But there haven’t been many cases where artists and entertainers themselves are seen as content that can be combined with technology. The Dentsu group believes the need to develop android entertainers will grow.” Hmm. Maybe that Robin Wright movie, The Congress, isn't all that far off.
