PNYC Selected as AOR For ShopKeep

The New York office of Partners + Napier (PNYC) has been named agency of record for ShopKeep, a provider of cloud-based small-business management tools for iPads and other mobile devices. The selection came after a formal review that included four other undisclosed agencies.

As agency of record, PNYC will handle brand strategy through creative across all integrated channels. Media agency Crossmedia, which frequently partners with PNYC on accounts, was selected by ShopKeep to handle media and communications planning.

ShopKeep spent $131,000 on measured media in 2013, according to Kantar.  Last year the firm secured $25 million in Series C funding which the company said it would use in part to boost its marketing efforts as well as to expand its U.S. operations and potentially, extend operations to Europe. Started in 2008, the company says it has tripled its revenue every year for the past three years and manages more than $1.8 billion in retail transactions annually.

“From the moment PNYC walked in the door, we knew they understood our business and had the energy and firepower we needed,” said Amanda Chin, ShopKeep’s VP of Marketing. “PNYC shared our vision for supporting growing businesses and they followed up on our initial conversations by demonstrating clear thinking and delivering actionable plans that we believe will help us achieve impactful results in the coming months.”

Within the past few months, ShopKeep, which provides services to over 10,000 small businesses, has added an Apple Pay and chip card reader to its product portfolio and launched an e-commerce store for POS hardware and accessories. The firm’s competitive set includes Square, Microsoft, Micros, and NCR.

In December Partners + Napier said it had elevated Matt Dowshen to president of PNYC. He joined the agency last June as Managing Director and before that had been with Ogilvy & Mather.
