Time-Shifting That Goes Beyond TV

I’m starting to time-shift my newspaper reading -- actual hard-copy newspaper reading.

Good news for publishers: I hold on to newspapers well beyond their original publishing date, often for weeks -- at least a few sections. (And no, I’m not a hoarder. Not yet, anyway).

For many, newspaper reading has become a digital experience. Still, like many who still cling to the old ways, I like to relax while holding some actual paper fibers in my hands.

It all comes down to this: Too much media has forced me to extend what was originally a TV-centric behavior into other media.

I’d like to extend this behavior for radio, for a song that I have just heard and would like to hear again, or for a radio discussion where I would like to review some crucial points.

Too bad I don’t have an audio time-shifting machine to use quickly (hands-free, of course) while bombing the L.A. freeways. So here is where time-shifting is a good thing: Just-past-real-time media still holds my attention.

Future time-shifting of media will, of course, all work better with electronic/digital media. For my radio content needs, I can go to a specific radio station’s site and review -- through podcasts or whatever -- any and all content.

And you can catch a great display ad at the same time.

Now if I can only remember why that funny-looking outdoor/billboard ad for the new Will Ferrell-Kevin Hart movie made me laugh...

    Wayne,
    You badly need a vacation.
But do not time shift your holiday.
    Take it now!
    Peace,
    Nick

It would be a daunting task for a non-next-generation-minded person to uncover even one reason why this piece is brilliant.

    Stay tuned...

    No.

What would be a daunting task is to get through a stream of comments and without encountering self-delusional new age nonsense!

    A "non-next-generation-minded person"! Really?

    Mike-Charles, I'm not offended. I am amazed.

Remember, brilliance, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.

Step away from the mirror. The bright light will harm your vision.

Hey Nick, why not look in your obviously dirty mirror and remember the day when your existence meant something. Can you actually remember something that old? I am guessing very few can.

Lol @ Mike..poor little guy thought I was talking about him. Classic case of attention deficiency disorder ..."Pity the fool"...in my Mr. T voice....

Mike Mellon from "Retired TV research guru" and Mike-Charles Nahounou from "TimePost" ... the Brain Trust from Dante's Inferno. But which Circle? Perhaps they are building a new ring to accommodate their guru-like research genius and diagnostic skills.

"Mike & Mike & Mike & Mike & etc." (ad nauseam) remind the civilized reader of a bad radio morning program featuring the degenerate likes of Howard Stern and the disordered likes of the Canadian MP, Pat Martin, who blames overly tight cheap underpants for his exit from parliament. (That must hurt, boys. No wonder you write like you are in pain and delirium. So sorry.)

Enough mental treakle from the "Mike Twins."

    Onwards and upwards.

PS No one but Mike & Mike should read further:

Mike-Charles Nahounou: I now understand why you here the voice of "Mr. T" in your head saying "Pity the fool." I do too!

  10. Mike-Charles Nahounou from TimePost, March 12, 2015 at 3:20 p.m.

    Hear* ...."Fool" smh

  11. Nicholas Schiavone from Nicholas P. Schiavone, LLC, March 12, 2015 at 3:44 p.m.

What you said, Mike-Charles! Hard to believe: "Only yourself. You use words for the use of the words without the intention or purpose other than real make yourself feel like you still have some important task to accomplish. But in reality, ... for the sole purpose of making subversive comments on the great content. Without knowing fool you, ... subconscious day of vengeance strangers about what ... luxury you have."

Really? That's not nice. So, I withdraw my expression of pity after you resort to name-calling and more invective.
Must be the Canadian MP Syndrome!

Mike-Charles Nahounou: In the Old Testament, the LORD exemplifies pity mostly by NOT showing it to fools, suckas, and sinners:

“And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, saith the LORD: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them.” (Jeremiah 13:14)

    Amen.

PS Hey, Bilbo: “Hear hear” or “here here"? With you, it makes no difference of substance. Chill. Please. Thank you.

Looks like someone knows how to use a copy and paste button?
Remember that "Google Translate" can only give an "idea" of a translation, not an exact meaning.

One good thing that came out of a senseless conversation with a pompous "fool" is the fact that you understand who is in control of everything that walks, breaths and thinks.

Although some level of merit may circle you, none ever seems to settle within you. We are no longer in the Old Testament age where law governs, we are now in the New Testament days where grace governs, therefore, the LORD no longer "destroys fools", rather fools "destroy themselves"

Romans 1:22: Although they claim (act/appear) to be wise, they become (are) fools.

Don't let the Scribes or the Pharisees spirits that vex you become victorious. Seek deliverance, not fortitude, by any means necessary.

    ....in my Mr. T voice

"If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest." (Proverbs 29:9.)

    We are what we are.

Let us rest in peace from this moment on, Mike-Charles.
