You're Fired: NBC Stops All Business With Donald Trump

Joining Univision in condemning Donald Trump’s remarks over immigration policy, NBC says it is ending all business relationships with the real estate/hospitality/entertainment mogul.

For NBC, this includes the annual Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants, which were part of a joint venture between NBC and Trump. NBC says those shows will no longer air on NBC.

"Celebrity Apprentice" on NBC will continue -- but without Trump as its host, and Trump will be dropped as a producing partner. Mark Burnett's United Artists Media Group will continue as the lone producing entity.

An NBC statement says: “At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values. Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump.”

Last week, Univision said it was ending its relationship with the Miss Universe Organization for remarks Trump made in announcing his presidential candidacy.

For the 2014-2015 season, “Celebrity Apprentice” averaged 7.6 million viewers -- up from 5.6 million the year before, according to Nielsen’s L7 program metric. Trump has previously said he will not be participating in “Celebrity Apprentice” on NBC.

Trump Productions had been a partner with Burnett in the longtime reality TV show since its inception in 2008. Both Trump and Burnett were producing partners in the previous version of the show, "The Apprentice," which started in 2008.

Last week, Univision said it was ending its relationship with the Miss Universe Organization; Trump is a part-owner of the Miss Universe Organization. Univision said the move was made “based on his recent, insulting remarks about Mexican immigrants. “

Trump announced his candidacy June 16. In his speech, he said: "When Mexico sends its people they're not sending the best. They're not sending you, they're sending people that have lots of problems and they're bringing those problems. They're bringing drugs, they're bringing crime.”

He added: “They're rapists and some, I assume, are good people, but I speak to border guards, and they're telling us what we're getting."
