Big Week For MDC Partners As Agencies Win Beats, E*Trade

It was a big week for MDC Partners in the new business department.

The company told attendees at an investor day event that Anomaly won a creative assignment for Beats by Dre and that Assembly is now the new media agency for E-Trade.

Anomaly is expanding to Los Angeles to help oversee the Apple-owned Beats account, where the duties are expected be shared with current Beats partner Interpublic Group's R/GA.

Meanwhile, Assembly beat out several shops, thanks to its ability to "navigate today's complex media ecosystem."

E-Trade spent $62 million on advertising last year -- down from $85 million in 2014, according to Kantar Media. The account went into review in February. The online trading platform has shifted its focus in recent years away from talking babies during the Super Bowl to focus more on connecting with consumers via digital.

These two wins continue this year’s momentum for MDC shops, which have have netted $55 million in new business so far in 2016.
