Some 37 million searchers used the Bing Network — including 27 million unique searchers not reached on Google — for 103 million technology-related searches, and
accounted for 30% of all technology-related paid clicks, according to recently posted numbers.
These numbers — some
internal Bing data and others from comScore, hidden at the bottom of a blog post — also reveal that Bing's network reaches 24.5 million users who frequently advise others on electronics,
20.6 million who consider themselves to be tech geeks, and 18.5 million who are first to own, buy or use the latest electronics.
The data aims to support a post that provides five tips to
boost mobile campaigns from Lucy Wang, Microsoft group manager product Marketing. The tips range from planning for announcements rather than just flying by the seat of your pants to upping the bidding
strategy and expanding on keyword lists.
Those numbers will continue to climb with the rise of smartphone use. In fact, more than half of Internet users are addicted to their
smartphones, per eMarketer, which references July 2016 data from CivicScience. The study suggests that more than three-quarters of 13- to-24-year-olds said they were "addicted" to their digital
devices, which included computers and smartphones.
Compare that with the self-declared device addicts among 13- to-24-year-olds, who are more than double the number among users ages 55 and
up.
eMarketer estimates that 84.0% of 12-to-17-year-olds will own and use a smartphone on a monthly basis in 2016.
