Cloud Technology Company Freespee Raises $10M In Series B Funding

Cloud marketing tech company Freespee announced Monday it has secured €9.25 million, or $10.31 million, in Series B funding to power additional product development.

Led by French venture capital firm Ventech, and with participation from existing investors Sunstone Capital and Inventure, the funding also included debt financing from Silicon Valley Bank.

Ventech’s venture partner Tero Mennander will join the Freespee board as part of the announcement.

Founded in Sweden, but based in London, Freespee bills itself as a “real-time conversation cloud company.” The company was originally founded in 2009 to analyze phone calls, but has since expanded to include a variety of digital marketing channels.

Freespee now helps marketers track and manage personalized customer communication originating from a brand’s Web site, including Web, mobile, email and phone conversations.

“There is no simple way for a brand to understand how customer communications through phone, chat and email influence and help grow its Internet business,” states Carl Holmquist, Freespee co-founder and CEO in a blog post announcing the news. “We’re building a cloud that gives marketers and e-commerce professionals access to these legacy technology stacks. This investment round will enable us to propel our ambitions to make Internet businesses more human and personal.”

By consolidating cross-channel communication into one data source, Freespee helps provide a more holistic picture of a customer’s identity and interests. This profile can then be leveraged to provide more personalized marketing messaging in the future.

Freespee’s current client list includes Allianz, Lloyds, eBay and Marriott Hotels.
