IAB Appoints Dennis Buchheim General Manager Of IAB Tech Lab

The IAB Tech Lab has named Dennis Buchheim senior vice president and general manager of the global digital media industry standards body.

Buchheim is currently senior vice president, data and ad effectiveness, Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), and general manager of the IAB Data Center of Excellence.

Buchheim succeeds Alanna Gombert, who joined the IAB Tech Lab in February 2016 as the organization’s deputy director and was named general manager four months later.

Under Gombert’s leadership, the IAB Tech Lab developed ads.txt, a tool to prevent the sale of counterfeit and unauthorized impressions in programmatic transactions. The organization also built the new IAB Standard Ad Unit Portfolio with flexible ad sizes in alignment with the LEAN Principles, aiming to make cross-screen marketing easier and improve user experience.

The IAB said Buchheim will continue to support the Data Center of Excellence on projects such as identity, data quality, and the automation framework. He will also participate in future Data Center of Excellence Board meetings.

Patrick Dolan, EVP and COO of IAB, who was the internal IAB founder of the Data Center, will be stepping in for the short term to lead the Data Center.

Buchheim has worked in digital advertising since 2002. He joined the IAB from Yahoo, where he served as vice president of product management.

Earlier, he worked at Microsoft, where after several promotions he led program management for display advertising overall.

His first role in advertising was as GM of Inktomi’s paid inclusion business.
