Dotmailer Parent Acquires Comapi

Dotdigital group, UK-based parent company of email automation vendor Dotmailer, has acquired Comapi, a omnichannel messaging platform also located in the UK, the firm announced on Friday.

The acquisition, completion of which was announced today, was for £11 million and a further consideration of £1.2 million in share options, the firm said last week.

The purchase will further dotdigital’s mission of providing an omnichannel marketing automation platform, the company says. The firm is also active in the U.S.

Dotmailer and Comapi share several clients, including Superdry, Hayes Recruitment, Daisy Group and betting firm Ladbrokes.

Comapi is a brand in the CPaaS market, dotdigital adds. Its customers include Gap, eBay, TSB, British Airways, Carphone Warehouse and Collect Plus.

According to its most recent annual report, issued in October, dotDigital increased its revenue by 19% to £32 million in its fiscal year ended in June, a 19% increase over the prior year.

In North America, sales grew by 16% to $5 million, and in Asia-Pacific they rose by 112% to AUS $1.2 million.

The report describes dotmailer as a “SaaS marketing platform that enables companies to create, test and send data-driven automated campaigns, including email.”

Dotdigital said in the report that it is investigating strategic acquisitions in these areas:

  • Companies that can help it expand into new geographic markets or grow faster in a market is already in.
  • Companies that let it build on its multi-channel capabilities, starting with mobile and social marketing.
  • Companies that add new functionality such as artificial intelligence hat will add value to its customer base in the mid- and small enterprise market.
