Amazon To Sell UFC Pay-Per-View Fights

Amazon will begin to sell access to pay-per-view fights from the mixed martial arts promoter UFC, the company announced Wednesday.

The first event offered under the deal will be UFC 222, which will be held this weekend in Las Vegas. Amazon will sell access to the fight for $64.99, the same fee offered by cable and satellite companies.

While the UFC fights will be viewable on Amazon’s Prime Video platform, consumers will not actually have to be Amazon Prime customers to order the event. The deal requires no contract with a distributor and no admission fee.

The deal is the latest move by Amazon to compete in the live sports arena, having streamed a season of “Thursday Night Football’ this past year.
