Amazon Alexa Adds Voice Donations For Charities

Amazon has enabled its digital agent Alexa to make donations to nonprofits by voice.

The online retailer has created skills to interact with any of 48 organizations, such as the American Cancer Society and the United States Fund for UNICEF.

As long as a consumer knows the name of the organization, they can simply give Alexa commands, such as ‘Alexa, make a donation to International Child Art Foundation,’ or ‘Alexa, make a donation to American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).’

The donation requests then are routed through Amazon Pay, the service associated with a person’s regular Amazon account, which includes their selected payment method, such as a credit card associated with the Amazon account.
