Mcgarrybowen Appoints First Innovation Head

Dentsu Aegis Network's mcgarrybowen has named Greg Johnson as the agency's first chief innovation officer to help guide strategy and development of new business models across the shop's three U.S. offices in New York, Chicago, and San Francisco.

Johnson has swiftly made himself a valued member of the agency's C-suite having joined the team as part of mcgarrybowen’s acquisition of San Francisco-based digital agency Swirl last December. Johnson has led the combined entity’s efforts to win digital AOR duties for Dole and Conduent.

Earlier in his career, he spent time at Digitas, McCann Erickson, and served as the executive creative director at William Morris Endeavor where he was the lead on the re-launch of the Polaroid brand.

He will report to Patrick Lafferty, mcgarrybowen U.S. president, while remaining based out of the mcgarrybowen Swirl San Francisco office, led by CEO John Berg.
