MobiTV --- a white-label digital provider of app-driven pay TV networks -- has added 90 networks to its platform, MobiTV Connect, now totaling more than 350.
MobiTV product targets pay TV
operators to launch a branded, app-based pay TV service. The company credits its growth in part to the rise of smart TVs and connected platforms including Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV.
New
networks include Bloomberg Television, Discovery, MGM HD, Newsmax, Outside TV, Smithsonian Channel, Stingray Music, Univision, and others.
Existing content partners include 21st Century Fox,
Viacom, Walt Disney, NBCUniversal, ESPN Media Networks, AMC Networks and A+E Networks.
MobiTV has signed more than 61 pay TV operators to its platform, which accounts for a national footprint
of more than 1 million U.S. subscribers. Many are believed to be small and mid-size operators, per media executives.
In 2017, according to the The Diffusion Group, vMVPDs (virtual multichannel
program distributors) had a collective 5.3 million subscribers.
