Augmented Reality Added To Black Friday Sneaker Drawing

GOAT, a marketplace for buying and selling authentic vintage and new sneakers, is introducing an augmented reality feature for its Black Friday drawing.

The AR feature encourages users to explore 125 destinations in a bid to win one of 1,000 prizes, according to the company.

The AR experience features an interactive map with historic sites tied to greatest-of-all-time athletes like Michael Jordan, Serena Williams, Muhammad Ali and Wayne Gretzky. Users can digitally explore via the AR app to learn about milestones and earn tickets for prizes.

The campaign’s AR experience was developed using Apple ARKit and features five 3D models of interactive objects.

"Every Black Friday, we look for new ways to celebrate sneaker culture and give back to our community with a unique drawing," stated Daishin Sugano, chief product officer and co-founder of GOAT. "With the addition of augmented reality, we hope to bridge the gap between the online and offline worlds with our most immersive and global experience yet."

Users of the app will receive push notifications when they are near a featured destination to capture their local AR experience.
