Cyber Group Launches Tool For Measuring DMARC Use

The Global Cyber Alliance (GCA) has introduced a tool that it says allows governments and businesses to measure the deployment of DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance), an email security standard.

The GCA DMARC Leaderboard provides input on over 500,000 email domains, allowing users to rank them by country, industry and DMARC policy level, the group says.

That total should grow to over 10 million email domains by the first quarter of 2018, it adds.

The tool is a way to “compare countries, sectors and companies as to their progress in deploying email spoofing protections,” states Philip Reitinger, president and CEO of GCA.

He adds: “Using DMARC to prevent email domain spoofing is essential as an anti-phishing measure. " The GCA hopes to see universal adoption.

The Leaderboard was announced during a symposium run by GCA and the Cybersecurity Tech Accord.

The GCA is an international group that works on improving cybersecurity.
