Wanda Sports Holdings has appointed Zehnder Communications as agency of record for both the Ironman and Rock N Roll Marathon series of athletic competitions.
The agency’s remit includes advertising, digital media and research and analytics activities for each entity.
For more than 40 years, Ironman, and its related Ironman 70.3 triathlons, has become well-known as the ultimate endurance brand, while the 21 year old Rock N Roll Marathon Series covers 22 major U.S. cities and eight international races from the United Kingdom to China, creating the largest running series in the world. This event combines running with a party-like atmosphere and headliner concert.
“For events like these, digital and social media are critical because of race registrations and updates on events taking place in multiple locations," says Henry Chassaignac, president, Zehnder Communications, adding his agency has "developed a way to organize and consolidate the information then present it in real time.”
Wanda acquired Ironman for $650 million in 2015, while the Rock N Rock Marathon was purchased in June 2017.
