Matt Seiler's Excellent Adventure (After Departing Dentsu Aegis)

Creative and media agency veteran Matt Seiler, most recently president, brand solutions at Dentsu Aegis Network left the company at the beginning of 2019 after about a year in the role.

As Seiler noted on his LinkedIn page, “not the right fit.” He is looking forward with the mantra “Situation Fluid. Open Agenda.”

We’ve all been there, right? As one commentator noted on his page: “You always land on your feet.”

But Seiler, former CEO at Interpublic’s Mediabrands, hasn’t been idle. In fact, he took what sounds like one awesome road trip in ski country with a friend, logging 1,700 miles across four states, eight mountains and 15 days on powdery slopes.

“As we were coming out of the mountains and back into civilization, what I needed to do in ‘real life’ became clearer,” he notes in his LinkedIn missive. “THIS, I had discovered, was real life. What comes next is making certain I am doing what I really want to do. That I am following my passion, and doing it with the people with whom I most want to be.

"It is too easy to be busy. To race from thing to thing without taking time to take some deep powder turns. To think about what matters most…”

I’d say that’s good food for thought. Seiler ended his missive noting he was on a plane headed back home, “Ready for all that is to come. How about you? When will it be your turn?”

Excellent question. I’ve been so busy being busy I haven’t given it much thought.

Something we should all think about.
