Trendline Acquires Canadian Email Agency InboxMarketer

Trendline Interactive, an email consulting firm based in Austin, Texas, has acquired InboxMarketer, a Canadian email agency. Terms were not disclosed.

Trendline is backed by private equity firm Growth Catalyst Partners (GCP).

The combined companies now have a total of 140 email staffers.

The deal will allow Inbox Marketer to offer “a more robust set of email marketing solutions including strategy, operations, creative, technology, analytics, deliverability, and privacy,” states Geoff Linton, CEO and founder of Inbox Marketer.

In turn, Inbox Marketer will help Trendline “identify quick wins and implement strategic solutions,” states Morgan Stewart, CEO of Trendline Interactive.

InboxMarketer has invested heavily in ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), data management and visualization tools, according to Trendline. Among their clients are enterprise firms from the financial, telco and retail sectors. It purports to be the largest email marketing agency in Canada.

Last September, Trendline acquired Inbox Pros, an email deliverability firm. At that time, it also announced that it had received an investment from GCP.

That acquisition expands Trendline’s service offering into the areas provided by Inbox Pros — deliverability, privacy, compliance and training. Trendline had specialized in email strategy, technology, execution and analytics.

GCP, a lower middle-market buyout firm, hopes to create a “leading middle-market email marketing agency,” said James O’Callaghan, vice president of GCP, at that time.
