Mastercard Adds 'Priceless Experiences' To Smart Speakers

Mastercard customers are getting a new voice.

It its first voice skill for smart speakers, Mastercard is launching the Priceless Experience skill exclusively for cardholders.

By saying the phrase “open priceless experiences,” owners of Amazon Echo or Google Home devices can access a wide variety of experiences in cities including New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Boston and Chicago, with cities outside the U.S. expected to be added next year.

“Voice is the next frontier of search and retail,” stated Raja Rajamannar, chief marketing and communications officer, Mastercard. “Sound is a powerful way for us to create a culturally relevant and emotional connection with consumers.”

Experiences include visiting a rooftop vineyard, touring a private art collection in Miami’s Design District and dining at a well-known Los Angeles restaurant.

The Mastercard approach is an example of how voice interactions are becoming more common and how a company can migrate its traditional business to smart speakers.

And much like the Amazon experience, the end goal is to instigate a consumer purchase.

As more of that occurs, voice commerce can finally get off the ground.
