Retarus GmbH, a Munich-based cloud service provider, has added features to its email API and changed its name.

Formerly known as E-Mail for Applications, the software -- now called Transactional Email -- features secure document handling, the company says.

That includes  automated encryption of data attachments, the company adds. And users can attach a template detailing the design of the email to email delivery jobs, similar to a mail merge message in word processing.

The software also allows firms to “separate their employees' messages from the transactional emails generated by their business-critical applications as far as possible," statesMartin Hager, CEO and Founder, Retarus.

The company facilitates high-volume transactional email transmissions, it says.  

The software can be connected via an REST/JSON API or, directly via SMTP transmission protocol to any application, Retarus says.

Hager adds that the firm processes data under strict security conditions at its data centers, and that the data can be used exclusively in Europe if needed.
