Hyundai To Intro 'Personal Air Vehicle' At CES

Not to be outdone by other automakers showing their futuristic car concepts at the coming CES, Hyundai Motor will unveil its idea of a flying car.

The South Korean automaker will introduce its first concept Personal Air Vehicle as part of the Urban Mobility Landscape, a component of its 2025 roadmap.

Hyundai recently announced it was creating two core business pillars, Smart Mobility Device and Smart Mobility Service to transform the automaker into a “smart mobility solution provider.”

The company plans to invest $51 billion for research and development as part of its new roadmap involving a major move into smart mobility.

The CES demo is set to include Hyundai’s vision for mobility and cities of the future.

The personal air vehicle would take off and land at hubs.

“The use of airspace is expected to alleviate road congestion and give back quality time to city commuters,” states Hyundai.

At CES last year, Hyundai introduced “Elevate,” a walking-car concept vehicle with wheels on robotic legs targeted for first responders.

Despite the car that can walk at the last CES and the one that can fly this time around, Hyundai plans to sell nearly 2 million vehicles in 2025, most of which will neither walk nor fly.
