In what might be described as the Great Exodus, social media user interactions with politically charged content have fallen precipitously on mainstream social media platforms like Facebook since it temporarily banned the President's ability to post.

The analysis was conducted by Media Matters just prior to Twitter's permanent removal of the President's biggest mainstream social media platform --his @realDonaldTrump account -- but it shows interactions peaked during the Capitol insurrection on January 6, but began falling the next day.

Anecdotally, the #GoodbyTwitter began trending on Twitter late Friday following its decision to permanently suspend the President's account, with many saying they were moving to fringe platforms like Parler that have considerably fewer guardrails for what users post.

Both Apple and Google, meanwhile, have pulled Parler's app from their app download stores.
