CNN edged out ABC for the best-performing network for that time period, with 4.03 million and 4.0 million Nielsen-measured live program-plus same-day viewers, respectively. Fox News Channel was next at 3.4 million, followed by MSNBC with 3.07 million and CBS with 3.02 million. CNN sister network HLN viewers hit 825,000.

Among the key news viewers that TV advertisers focus on -- 25- to-54 year-olds -- CNN dominated all networks, averaging 1.5 million, followed by ABC at 980,000; Fox News Network with 742,000; CBS at 682,000; MSNBC with 562,000; and HLN at 309,000.
The total for cable TV news networks' viewing -- Fox News Channel, CNN, and MSNBC -- came in at 10.5 million. By way of comparison, those three networks totaled 3.8 million in total day average viewing during the first quarter of 2020.
For Fox News Channel, CNN, and MSNBC, first-quarter 2020 daytime viewing came in at 1.4 million, 1.35 million and 1.0 million, respectively.
