Walt Disney is moving the Disney+ streaming brand to
become the “digital centerpiece” of the company -- to encompass everything from movies to games to theme park experiences.
Speaking at Walt Disney's shareholder address on
Wednesday, incoming CEO Josh D’Amaro said Disney+ would essentially be a “portal” for Disney’s entire ecosystem.
This includes bringing video interactive gaming and
“vertical” short-form video into Disney+.
Disney recently formed a partnership with Open AI for its Sora platform, allowing consumers to create short form videos based on Disney
characters.
Disney+ would align D’Amaro’s “One Disney” philosophy with the goal to create a direct line between new digital experiences and physical experiences that
Disney theme parks bring to consumers.

D’Amaro's ascent at Disney follows his role as chairman of Disney Experiences since 2020 -- running Disney’s theme parks, Disney Cruise Line,
Disney Consumer Products and Walt Disney Imagineering. He was instrumental in returning theme parks as a major foundational business of Disney after the crushing pandemic disruption that started in
2020.
In his remarks, D'Amaro confirmed the company is moving quickly into combining Disney+ and the Hulu streaming platform. He also touted major international original TV programming:
“Rivals” and “Battle of Fates”.
D'Amaro said that ESPN -- which in the past was discussed as a possible business spinoff from Disney -- is key core piece of
Disney’s streaming plan, representing a “grand slam” for consumers.
