Nicholas Sparks Pushes Love Letters For Belle Glos Wines

Written -- or received -- any love letters lately?

Nicholas Sparks, whose popular love letter-driven novel "The Notebook" marks its 25th anniversary this year, asked his Instagram followers to write a love letter, post it on social media, and tag Belle Glos Wines for a chance to win a limited-edition Belle Glos Love Letters stationery kit and a signed copy of "The Notebook."

The stunt kicked off a larger Belle Glos promotion involving 250 of the stationery kits the brand created with luxury stationer Dempsey & Carroll.

Each Belle Glos Love Letters stationery kit features customized embossed stationery, a Belle Glos pen, two sticks of wax in an embossed red foil (the Belle Glos color), and a wax stamper.

They kits are available from online retailer Quilt & Co for $90 each or for just $1 with the purchase of any three Belle Glos wines starting Friday (the brand includes six Pinot Noirs and the Blanc de Noir Rosé.). A ten-pack of the cards and envelopes is also available for $65 from Dempsey & Carroll’s website.

Since Belle Glos launched in 2001, the winery says, the United States Postal Service reports that Americans are sending 4.3 billion fewer letters and cards, a 61% drop. However, a 2015 Gallup poll found 94% of Americans still love to get a letter or card in the mail.

"I am a true believer in the power of a handwritten letter," said Sparks, who was eager to participate on a promotion meant "to preserve and promote the art of letter-writing. After all, a letter is yours to keep forever."
