Samba TV -- the TV measurement company, which recently filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission to become a public company -- has added to its growing executive team by hiring former Amazon executive Robert Coon as Chief Revenue Officer.
Coon was key in helping Amazon's connected TV advertising. He headed up the advertising sales teams, including leading grocery advertising sales at Amazon.
Previously at Amazon, he was head of hospitality advertising and global head of product sales. Before Amazon, Coon held senior positions at InterActiveCorp, Bankrate and Walt Disney.
Coon joins new hires over the last several months, including ex-Fox Corp executive Meredith Brace as Chief Marketing Officer; ex-Interpublic Group's Kris Magel as vice president, agency development; and SentinelOne executive Divya Ghatak, who is joining Samba TV's board of directors.
In its November SEC filing, Samba TV said the company posted revenue gains of 20% or more in recent periods -- up 24% to $82.8 million for the nine-month period ending September 2021, as well as a 26% increase to $106.8 million for the full-year 2020 versus 2019.
Gross profits for the recent nine-month 2021 period was $33.7 million. It was $46.4 million for all of 2020.
The company says it has 24 smart TV manufacturer brand integrations with Sony, TCL, Philips, Toshiba, Sanyo and Sharp.
