Jon Vlassopulos, formerly global
head of music at popular online gaming platform Roblox, has left the company to further pursue the metaverse as an advisor at Dubit, a major creator of metaverse experiences, games, and events for
brands.
During his time at Roblox –– a platform that reaches over 200 million users a month –– Vlassopulos
produced virtual concerts and experiences for artists including Lil Nas X, Twenty One Pilots, KSI, 24KGoldn and Zara Larsson, which reached and engaged over 100 million people globally.
Vlassopulos will remain an advisor “to help Roblox continue to execute on their music strategy,” he writes
in a LinkedIn post.
The transfer to Dubit makes sense, as the company recently created the first
virtual experiences for the BRITs and the Grammys, and was behind last Friday’s Samsung-sponsored virtual concert by Charli XCX and Roblox.
At Dubit,
Vlassopulos will act as a senior advisor on future metaverse strategies, supporting its partnerships with brands, publishers, artists, and metaverse platforms, reads a recent
statement.
“The beauty of the metaverse is its power to reach and engage massive global audiences that
are unreachable on other platforms and in the real world,” says Vlassopulos in a statement, adding that he looks forward to working with Dubit as it activates more virtual events and experiences
on platforms like Roblox.
