Dentsu Group Backs Roblox Game Developer

Dentsu Group Inc. has made an investment in San Francisco-based Roforco Inc., which develops and publishes games on social gaming network Roblox. Terms of the investment were not disclosed. It was made via one of Dentsu's venture funds.
The game studio has also received an investment from Y Combinator, a Silicon Valley-based accelerator.
Roforco acquires and amps up released game titles that the firm believes have the potential to become hits through additional development utilizing data-backed statistics, professional development tools, and the network of Roblox game developers.
One of Roforco's recent success stories is a Roblox game called  Sunsilk City, released earlier this year and which is now a Roblox Top 50-ranked game with more than 6.5 million monthly active users as of July.
Dentsu said the investment is designed to strengthen its own capabilities in gaming while supporting the growth of the game studio.
Roforco was founded last year by Tom Middleton and Brain Xiang. Prior to forming their own company they developed Roblox games for five-plus years, among other activities.
