Laura Molen, Longtime NBCU President Of Ad Sales, To Depart

Longtime veteran NBCUniversal senior advertising executive Laura Molen is leaving the company.

Molen is president of advertising sales, a ten-year veteran who most recently has been key in helping NBC construct its One Platform team structure. NBC’s One Platform is a cross-platform media-buying/media-planning system for all NBC media properties.

Molen will be departing after the first quarter of 2023. It isn’t known if Molen will be replaced or whether NBCU might restructure some of its advertising-sales business as a result.

In a memo to her NBC staffers, Molen says: “It is time for me to re-prioritize my focus, have more family time and fully explore my numerous passions. I’m particularly interested in utilizing my expertise to partner with others and help companies succeed, including taking on more Board advisory roles, like so many leaders I admire.”

Linda Yaccarino, chairman of global advertising and partnerships at NBCUniversal Media, in another memo, said of Molen:

“Long before One Platform was created, Laura was uniting groups to help us function as one team and rolling out the red carpet for every partner... She’s pushed innovation forward, spearheading massive undertakings like introducing Peacock to the marketplace.”

Yaccarino also says Molen has “been an advocate for women leaders and multicultural audiences, fighting for them to be valued by the marketplace.”

Molen news comes amid other major senior executive advertising sales transitions.

In September, Paramount Global announced Jo Ann Ross, longtime president/ chief advertising revenue officer of U.S. advertising sales, would be transitioning to an advisory role as chairman of Paramount Advertising.

Ross is being replaced by John Halley, a longtime Paramount Global and Viacom advertising executive.

Earlier this month, The CW announced Rob Tuck, who headed up ad sales, a 16-year veteran at the network most recently as executive vice president of national advertising sales, would be leaving his post.

Tuck’s move comes right after big TV station owner Nexstar Media Group closed its deal to be the majority owner of the network.
