Campbell’s has announced its first Metaverse experience via popular sandbox game "Fortnite Creative."
As the “official soup sponsor of the NFL,” Campbell's is building up to the NFL playoffs by launching the Chunky FuelUp Tournament, an immersive football-themed metaverse game featuring three unique challenges to test payers' speed, agility, and accuracy, according to the company.
The tournament is comprised of the “Spicy Soup Sprint,” in which players fly through branded cans of soup and a slide down a giant spoon, racing to complete the course in record time.
There’s the “Protein Power Course,” in which players take on an agility-based training course, juking past dummies and other football-themed obstacles as they rush toward the end zone, followed by the “Hearty Hail Mary,” which invites players to test their quarterback skills as they attempt to throw cans of soup into moving targets.
“Launching a Chunky metaverse experience is another step forward for the brand to intersect sports and culture,” says Marci Raible, vice president of integrated marketing at Campbell’s, adding that the new activation helps the brand leverage its 25-year NFL partnership with a gaming audience.”
The Chunky FuelUp Tournament can be launched through a 12-digit island code in "Fortnite Creative." Once accessed, players enter the Chunky FuelUp Plaza, where they can explore different areas of the Chunky Bowl Stadium, including a tailgate area and VIP section.
The creative for the Chunky metaverse game was developed in partnership with Spark Foundry, Campbell’s media agency of record, Beyond Creative, a Fortnite Creative developer studio, and features "Fortnite Creative."
Players must be ages 18+ to be eligible to play and compete for prizes including signed NFL merchandise, tickets to 2023 NFL games, and the honor of being crowned the Chunky MVP.
The FuelUp Tournament’s qualifying rounds begin on January 12-February 3. Participants can share their high scores on ChunkyGaming.com during the qualifiers to be eligible for prizes and the finale.
The top-scoring players who have made it to the finale will compete in a live event on February 8 that will be streamed by popular Twitch streamer Nickmercs on his channel.
