Vizio Q4: Higher Smart TV Revenues, Device Sales Sink 24%

Although Vizio Holdings grew streaming and smart TV revenue by 30% to $137 million in the fourth quarter, it witnessed 24% lower “device” revenue -- which includes sales of TV sets -- to $397 million.

The after-market Tuesday close saw Vizio stock sinking 5% to $9.70.

Total revenue was down 15% to $535.5 million, with net income at $6.3 million -- reversing a $10.1 million net loss in the year-ago period.

Smart TV shipments during the period were at unchanged 1.5 million.

All Vizio's Platform+ smart TV metrics grew, with active accounts up 15% to 17.4 million, SmartCast hours adding 24% to 4.76 million, and SmartCast average monthly revenue per users rising 31% to $28.30.

Advertising revenue from its Platform+ streaming was up 25%, non-advertising revenue (including subscription, and app revenue-share) grew 46%.

Direct advertising deals were up 53%, adding 130 new advertisers.

Overall adjusted cash flow -- earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization -- was up 15% to $19.9 million.
