Wunderman Thompson Creates New Commerce & Tech Group

 Wunderman Thompson has rebranded its subsidiary end-to-end commerce company Gorilla Group which will sit at the core of a newly created commerce and technology division, Wunderman Thompson Commerce & Technology.

WT acquired the Gorilla Group in 2018 and the rebranding completes the integration of the agency’s commerce and related tech capabilities into a single group serving North America. The change will become effective during the second quarter, the agency said.

Gorilla Group COO, Adam Brown, is being named CEO of Wunderman Thompson Commerce & Technology in North America effective immediately. Neil Stewart heads the operation worldwide as Global CEO.

Current Gorilla Group CEO, Brian Grady, will move into an advisory role. Additionally, Wunderman Thompson Apps, a unit that offers expertise in mobile and connected device enablement and commerce specialist Diff, become part of Wunderman Thompson Commerce & Technology.

“With comprehensive capabilities that extend across owned, retail, and marketplace channels, and deep expertise in B2B and D2C commerce, Wunderman Thompson Commerce & Technology NA will serve as a digital transformation change agent and deliver measurable outcomes to enterprise businesses across industries and business models,” the agency said of the new unit.

“Combining our technology and commerce offer in North America continues our evolution to provide our clients with best-in-class, end-to-end capabilities to acquire and engage customers across the entirety of buyer and shopper journeys,” stated Stewart.  

The new division brings together over 4,200 employees across North America, LATAM, Europe, and APAC, with core capabilities across strategy and consulting, commerce experiences, commerce media, data insights, and technology enablement.
