CG Insurance Launches First Brand Character In The Caribbean Region

Think of her as the “Flo” of the Caribbean.

CG Insurance has just launched a new ad campaign–the work is by independent agency Chemistry–that introduces the character “Aunt Angie.” The Insurance company claims that she is the first brand character created for the Caribbean region.

In the campaign ads “Aunt Angie” is shown regaling family members with some of her zany adventures, like hang-gliding with goats. And, unfortunately, crashing and ending up in the hospital. Sample the work here

The main message of the campaign is that though Aunt Angie’s experiences are a bit complicated, her CG Insurance coverage is not.

The campaign was created by an all-Black women-led production team at Chemistry/Test Tube Productions that tapped into a “cultural narrative that resonates with the consumers across the 21 countries and jurisdictions in the Caribbean” where CG offers coverage.

"Our Test Tube Productions team worked overtime to bring this campaign to life," says Renee Royal, VP, Head of Production at Chemistry and Test Tube Productions. "We shot the majority of these spots on a virtual wall in Miami which gave us endless opportunities to dive into Angie's world. Without that piece of technology, we would be hard-pressed to do some of the action you see in the campaign.”

The campaign launched this week in the 21 countries and jurisdictions in the Caribbean and runs on TV, social, radio, print, and out-of-home.

CG, which rebranded from Colonial Group Insurance in 2020, sells an array of insurance products including travel, auto, health, life and other policies.
