Peacock To Be First Streamer With NFL Playoff Game Exclusive

In a first for a streaming service, NBCUniversal’s Peacock will have an exclusive to carry one of the National Football League’s playoff games this coming season.

Peacock’s exclusive is for the game on Saturday, Jan. 13, during “Wild Card Weekend,” the first weekend of the playoffs.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Wall Street Journal sources put it at roughly $110 million.

The Peacock exclusive Wild Card game will immediately follow a late afternoon NFL Wild Card Playoff game on NBC and Peacock.

Peacock will also be the exclusive outlet for an NFL regular-season game for the first time: a Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Chargers matchup set for Saturday, Dec. 23.

That game will follow a special “SNF” game (Bengals vs. Steelers) on NBC and Peacock.

The Peacock exclusive Wild Card game and regular season game will be broadcast on NBC stations in the two competing team cities, and available on mobile devices with NFL+. The NFL is the only sports league that presents all regular-season and postseason games on free, over-the-air television in local markets.

Peacock will again stream all NBC “Sunday Night Football” games, including the playoffs, and the “Football Night in America” studio show. The exclusive “Peacock Sunday Night Football Final” will also return, with expanded post-game coverage following “SNF” each week.

With the Olympics, Premiere League, Notre Dame Football, NASCAR, NTT IndyCar Series, and Big Ten football as of September, in addition to “SNF,” Peacock’s programming includes the most live sports of any U.S.-based direct-to-consumer streaming service, according to NBC Sports.
